DAY HIKER AWARD - QUALIFICATION HIKE
Sunday, 10/21, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
- 2+ hours starting at the Satwiwa parking lot
- Scouts who complete this hike & it's requirements will be eligible to earn the Big Sycamore Award (Sycamore to the Sea) after completing that hike in December
- Scouts are only required to complete 1 Qualification Hike before the Big Sycamore Award, but are highly encouraged to participate in both qualifications
- There are no water refilling stations available on this trail, be prepared with water & snacks
The meeting point is the Satwiwa parking lot (where you park your car) near the restrooms. Be aware that the Satwiwa parking lot is locked after sunset, so you may want to park outside of the gate or get dropped off for the Big Sycamore Hike in December. Please bring water, snacks, pencil/paper for notes, sunscreen, jacket (if needed), & wear comfortable running or hiking shoes. Scouts should carry all of their own gear.
During each hike, Scouts will make a report/list describing at least 20 animals, plants, or anything to do with nature that he sees or observes on the hike. The report must be submitted to me immediately after each hike (that day) in order for the Scout to earn the awards (patches). Make sure the Scout's name is on his report. I will be happy to assist the Scouts with this if necessary.
