Cub Scout Pack 3763 – 2022 Plan

 Cub Scout Pack 3763 – 2022 Plan

Version 0.1

Parents Planning Meeting

  •         Who:  All Scout parents.
  •          When:  Once a month.  Usually, a week before a Pack meeting. Duration: 1 hour.
  •          Where:  Zoom (online).  A meeting invite will be sent prior via email via the Pack distribution group.  Meetings and Zoom info will also be listed on the Pack calendar on our website.
  •          What:  The purpose of this meeting is for parents to discuss and plan items such as:

o   What advancements will be worked on in the next Pack meeting

o   Assignments of one or more tasks to parents for the upcoming Pack meeting or special event.

o   What special events or field trips will be taken this year.

o   Budget/Fundraising

o   Any and all other items raised by parents.

In order to foster greater involvement, all parents are encouraged to offer their input and participate in the planned activities for the Pack.  Many great ideas originate at these meetings and have a huge impact on the experience Scouts enjoy.

Pack Meetings

  •          Who:  All Scouts and at least one accompanying parent.
  •          When:  Sunday afternoons.  Once a month.  Duration: 2-2.5 hours
  •          Where: Dos Vientos Community Park unless otherwise stated.

Pack Meeting General Format

Advancement Activities

Advancement activities will be allotted 60-90 minutes where Pack will separate into ranks and work on rank specific achievements.  As we will be pursuing advancement activities during the Pack meeting, the need for separate “den” meetings (each rank meeting on their own at a different time and place) has been put aside.  If a rank membership swells to a number where advancement activities cannot be completed during a Pack meeting, we can discuss re-instituting the traditional den meeting format for that rank.

Rank advancement activities will be led by a Scout leader or a parent who has volunteered to lead a portion of the advancement requirement.  Let’s be honest: the requirements are not difficult for an adult and takes less than an hour preparation time in most all cases.  Remember that the Cub Scout program is very well defined and all the guess work has been removed.  It is as fun for the parents as it is the Scout.  A Scout leader will always be available for questions or assistance.

All-Ranks Activities

This portion of the meeting is where all ranks will be together as a group and be coordinated by Scout Master or other leader.   The basic format (subject to change when needed) will be:

    •  Flags and pledge of allegiance
    • Announcements
    • Awards
    • Fun group activity for all ranks participating together.

Special Events

Special events such as camping trips, community service, or “field trips” could take the place of a monthly Pack meeting (as outlined above).    Special events will be curated by parents and leadership positions during the parent’s meetings.
